How TODAY.you makes money
Short answer: Clearly labeled advertising may support TODAY.you, but payment cannot change a comparison, hide a fee or buy an editorial conclusion.
The current model
Display advertising is the current commercial model, and advertisers do not control rankings or conclusions.
Clearly labeled display ads
TODAY.you is an educational publisher built to support display advertising. An ad must look like an ad. It cannot copy the design of a menu, calculator button or editorial recommendation.
No paid table position
A lender, bank or advertiser cannot buy a higher place in an editorial table. Rate comparisons follow the published methodology.
If affiliate links are added
An eligible affiliate link will be labeled near the link, but it will not make a provider the default or best choice.
What an affiliate link means
TODAY.you may receive payment if a reader uses an eligible link and completes an action. That relationship does not make the provider the best choice for every reader.
How the link will be shown
Eligible links will be labeled close to the link and use sponsored attributes. The comparison will still state its criteria, important exclusions and data date.
What payment cannot change
- It cannot change a factual conclusion.
- It cannot hide a fee or important condition.
- It cannot create a fake review or rating.
- It cannot remove accurate criticism.
What stays free
The public rate tables, calculators, methodology and educational guides remain available without reader payment.
Educational access
Rate tables, the methodology, calculators and educational guides remain available without payment.
Reader data
Calculator inputs stay in the browser. A rate alert asks for an email because an address is needed to deliver it. The editorial policy governs the line between commercial and editorial work.
